Apocalypter FAQ
Answers to common questions.
When does Apocalypter release?
Apocalypter released on Steam for Windows on September 23, 2026. The game is available now — check the Steam store page for current pricing and regional availability. A demo was available before launch but is an outdated build with only one car, one boss, and one save slot.
Is Apocalypter single-player or multiplayer?
Apocalypter is single-player only at launch. The official Steam listing shows no co-op, PvP, or online categories. Every system in the game — car customization, survival, warlord hunts — is designed around the lone survivor. Wishlist or follow the Steam page for future feature announcements.
How does car customization work in Apocalypter?
Any kind of car part can be installed to any car — no limitations. You find cars in the world, strip parts from wrecks, and build the vehicle you want: functional parts (suspension, engine, radiator), cosmetic parts (steering wheel, gear lever, seats), and storage (roof rack, crates, boxes). The part adjuster tool lets you move and rotate the engine, exhaust or radiator however you like.
What are the system requirements for Apocalypter?
Minimum: Windows 10/11 64-bit, 3 GHz quad-core CPU, 8 GB RAM, GeForce GT 1030 or AMD equivalent, DirectX 11, 2 GB storage. Recommended: 3 GHz octa-core CPU, 16 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1070 Ti or AMD equivalent. The game is light — anything resembling a gaming PC from the last several years clears recommended specs.
How do I survive my first hour in Apocalypter?
Find a car and get it running before anything else. Strip nearby vehicle wrecks for an engine, wheels and a radiator. Loot abandoned buildings for food and basic supplies. Save often — the game allows saving anytime. Do not pick fights with faction camps until you have a weapon you trust and body armor. Navigation is by compass and landmarks only — there is no map.
What is the currency in Apocalypter?
Rusted nuts are the wasteland currency. Collect them from loot across the world and spend them with traders in friendly faction camps. Merchants buy and sell randomized stock — what they sell and what they buy varies per merchant and per visit. The save-and-reload trick rerolls a trader's inventory when you need one specific part.
What weapons are in Apocalypter?
Two official weapon families: melee and ranged. Melee weapons need no ammunition and shine in the ammo-scarce early game. Firearms hit harder at range but every caliber must be looted, dropped or bought — the ammunition economy is the real decision. Enemies use the same weapons you do and randomly drop ammo, weapons or healing items when killed.
How do I make money fast in Apocalypter?
Loot everything and sell the surplus. Your earning rate is really your looting rate, which is really your car's storage capacity. The single highest-return purchase in the game is a roof rack and crates: more storage converts the same drive time into more income. Hostile camps drop ammo, weapons and healing items — every fight is also a resupply.
Can I cook in Apocalypter?
Yes — the official survival loop includes butchering animals and mutants and cooking their meat. Cooked meat is the quality tier of the food system: raw looted cans keep you alive, the hunt-cook cycle keeps you thriving. Community confirmed: you can cook rats. Portable maggot farms and dew collectors mount on your car and produce food and water while you drive.
Does Apocalypter support controllers or steering wheels?
Partial controller support is official — but for driving only. Keyboard and mouse is the full scheme for combat, building and exploration. Steering wheel support is also official and listed on the Steam feature page. If you have a wheel, long wasteland hauls are genuinely pleasant; bind the part adjuster tool to a wheel button if your setup allows it.
What are warlords in Apocalypter?
Warlords are the game's boss fights. The long-term goal is eliminating all the warlords and attaching their trophies to your car — every trophy mounted is permanent progress on display. Warlord fights are the final exam your build studies for: bring body armor, bandages, first aid kits, a fed gun, and a car that can retreat. Specific warlord names and tactics are being documented by the community.
Is the Apocalypter demo worth playing?
The demo is an outdated version of the game with much less content — only one car, one boss, and one save slot. It gives you a taste of the driving loop but not the full experience. The full game adds many more cars, bosses, faction camps, warlords and the complete survival system. If you enjoyed the demo, the full game is substantially larger.
Does Apocalypter use world seeds like Minecraft?
No. Apocalypter's world is procedurally generated and infinite, but the game does not expose a seed system. Every run starts in a fresh wasteland that the engine generates on the fly — there is no seed to share, copy or replay. This is different from survival games like Minecraft or Valheim where seeds define a fixed world; here the world keeps generating as you drive.
